PHISHING RED FLAGS
HTTPS VS HTTP
PROTECTION
Spotting the Trap
Phishing URLs often mimic famous brands. Look for subtle misspellings that our architect flags as suspicious:
- Homograph Attacks: Using symbols like ‘googIe’ (with a capital I) instead of ‘google’.
- Subdomain Deception: paypal.secure-login.com (The real domain is secure-login.com).
- Suspicious TLDs: Avoid ‘.zip’ or ‘.bit’ links from unknown sources.
The SSL Layer
HTTPS ensures your connection is encrypted, but it doesn’t always mean a site is “Safe.” A malicious actor can still have an SSL certificate. Our tool checks the underlying protocol to ensure you aren’t sending data over plain-text HTTP.
Safety Tip: Never enter credit card info or passwords on a site that lacks the ‘Padlock’ icon in the browser bar.
The Pro-Active Workflow
1. Copy any suspicious link from an email or SMS.
2. Paste it into the URL Safety Architect before clicking.
3. If the Threat Level is high, delete the source message immediately.
